I have a Samsung HLP5063 that I have never really done much adjusting to, to speak of, and have been fairly happy with it, but am now realizing I am missing the tv's full potential, and am motivated to maximize the picture......at least as much as I can without a professional calibration, which I can't afford at the moment. So, my question is,where do I start? I've heard of the DVE and Avia discs, and heard different opinions, so I'll ask you folks....are these both good, or is one better than the other, are they user friendly etc. etc. I've seen some posts about setting the gamma to zero, and other little tweaks, and may or may not try some of that, but what would some of you recommend in my situation? My set is a HLP5063, firmware version 1035, built in Nov. 2004, if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance!

You should be fine with either disc.
Setting gamma to zero is a good idea as well.

O.k...........think I'll get DVE then. Someone told me it isn't as user friendly as Avia, is that true? You can back out of anything you do with either of these, correct? From what I've read, they are pretty straightforward, yes?
