hi there,

I am still totally new to this, but I'd like to invest into the future and get a HD camcorder. I understand that HD (AVCHD) material requires a lot of system power. I do not have enough money to also buy a new computer and I plan to only do simple video edits (such as cut out bad stuff etc), so I can view the material either on my HD TV or burn it to DVD.

What would I need to do to be able to make simple edits of the recorded materials on my current laptop computer (Pentium M 2Ghz, 1GB RAM, 100 GB HD). Do I need to convert it to a different file format for the editing part? Would Canopus be a feasible program for my computer?

Any help is much appreciated that would allow me to produce simple HD clips on my laptop. Many thanks for any response!
