I want to switch from comcast to something else.

What is the best way to spend 24-30 total dollars a month?

Right now, I am just chillin with comcast's standard package, and then I view the unscrambled QAM channels with a box I have. But I only get like CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX, PBS in HD.

Buy a good antenna for your local broadcast stations and get a Netflix subscription for everything else.

Dish Turbo HD Bronze Package, with one, free 222 dual-HD/SD tuner, and an antenna for OTA.

Currently $24.99/month (or $29.99 w/locals).

Might have to spend more to get something your satisfied with....you did state you like televeision.
Either that or go with a good antenna.
I would go with the cheapest HD package from D* personally.

You need to decide what HD programming you want. As noted, the Dish Turbo packages are typically less expensive than other alternatives.

Netflix carries DVDs and Blurays of TV shows. No commercials, snipes, ugly logos, or stretch-o-vision.

Not exactly 30 bucks, but if you are in a FIOS area, and if you already are paying ~30-40 for internet, 79.99 gets you a bundle with 20/5 internet and the HD Extreme TV package, with many HD channels and tons of SD channels.

When is directv going to offer a watered down hd channel lineup without all the sports?

Id be happy with just cnn, cinemax, mgmhd, hdnet , hdnet movies, and nickelodeon.
