I was told today by an a/v store that calibrating this tv isn't worth it! I was told it comes calibrated from the factory. Is there any truth to this? Also, I am planning on a blu-ray, should I wait for the blu- ray before I calibrate?

Greetings

Wait for the BD player.

There is a difference between calibrated ... and calibrated correctly or poorly.

All lawyers offer services ... all doctors offer medical services ... all mechanics fix cars ...

Calibrated to give a picture that people like ... (does not mean correct)

I like it that 2+2=20 ... but does that make it correct?

Your AV store is incorrect.
If image accuracy is "worth it" to you, calibration is a necessity.
Keep in mind, a professional calibrator will calibrate your entire video system, taking into account all variances and viewing conditions. Not just the panel.
