Hello from slushy Pittsburgh. We'll be on the air at 12:30 ET with NHL. From the looks of things around town, there might be a football game or something later today.

Wait. You mean to tell me NBC had a national game of the week?

At 9:30am Pacific? Whoops, I must have missed it as I was asleep. Gotta love how NBC is considerate of the most popular state in the Union, California. They must love all the viewers they get from LA (#2 market) and Bay Area (#4 market) for a national game airing at 9:30am Pacific.

Besides, everyone knows THE game this week was played last night with the Sharks hosting the Red Wings. That was a Stanley Cup ERR Western Conf championship preview...

i was howling watching milbury and pierre mcguire debate fighting...

milbury "youre just another guy who wants to sissy-fy the sport"

hahaha..amazing..

this game was very well presented. i dont watch a lot of hockey on nbc but this was a great experience. looked good, sounded good. lots of activity and ambiance in the surrounds.

actually noticed a pretty different sonic character from the nbc feed here in toronto to the TSN presentation of it, which *should* have just been the nbc feed...not as much of a soundstage or dynamics on tsn..everything sounded louder, but not as deep and "open" and real..same program just 1 or 2 seconds apart..very weird..

Yeah, they should have waited to 3:00 eastern, 12:00 pacific so they could have put the game up against the NFC Championship game. That would have really helped the ratings.

Detroit and Pittsburgh....shocking pick of teams by NBC. Why on Earth would they want to pick the best team in the NHL, the San Jose Sharks? Or the second best in points, the Bruins?

No, only Detroit, Pittsburgh, NYR, and Philly.

Besides, everyone knows THE game this week was played last night with the Sharks hosting the Red Wings. That was a Stanley Cup ERR Western Conf championship preview...Yes, and the result really sucked.

I can't believe the Wings gave up 41 shots on goal. They have been winning a lot of games, but with 49 shots for Dallas in the loss last Monday, this is not a good trend.

Because those 4 teams have large fan bases outside their home markets and most of the rest of the teams in the league don't. Best team in the league or not, the Sharks don't have nearly the following outside of Northern California that the Wings have outside of Michigan.

Don't worry, they'll show the Bruins, most likely against the Rangers on 3/8. San Jose's only chance is 2/15.

I didn't think people in CA sat around the house on a nice day to watch the NHL. But there is this new invention called a DVR so you can watch things on delay if 9:30 is to early for you.

NBC (and advertisers) please know that McGuire and Milbury are completely unwatchable to me and I quickly change the channel the second the period ends. Their childish bantering and immature name calling does nothing but embarass the game. McGuire's in game comments have me nearing the point where I'll only tune in for the Flyers. There is no value added by his presence.
