So in the near future we will be replacing our LCD Projection (As well as the old school Entertainment wall Unit) and getting either an LED LCD or a Plasma... In either case, my wife wants to put a frame around the TV (or around the border at least) to make it look like its a piece of art. Does anyone know if such a thing exists, and how would one logistically pull it off?

Because my wife would like a frame around it to look like a piece of art :)

They're out there, but it was basically a stock set with a gaudy looking frame hung over the bezel. I have no idea how the remote would work, because the bezel and the sensor were completely covered. Didn't look anything like art to me. I don't remember the model or the price, but I remember clearly that there was a big price hike for it, which didn't add to its appeal either. They also had models that functioned as a framed mirror while turned off, but I didn't like that either. The only places I've seen them is in local high end stores.

I think that's an idea that sounds better than it looks.

It was 7000$, the same price as the tv.

Picture frame stock from Mennards; saw, mitre box, measure TWICE, cut, assemble, locate sensor, mark frame, drill hole, apply finish, bungee cord around mount. Maybe rubber strips between wood and bezel...avs'ers are creative lol.

I think that would be called a crate, not a frame. ;)

-Check out your local picture frame shop for a quote on a custom build
-If you live near an Amish Community, they are good wood workers and many do custom
builds.
-Panasonic has frames but you must order their custom model tv. Check their site.
Myself, I am working on a plan for a faux window frame, complete with curtains...they say plasma is "like looking out a window"

I second the recommendation to visit the Sanus website. I came very close to getting my father's 50" Plasma framed with an optic mirror kit (makes the thing look like an ordinary mirror when turned off) and did plenty of research; Sanus had some of the best stuff and I am confident that it would have looked great. He did end up deciding that it wasn't worth it to spend the same amount framing and mirroring the TV as the TV itself cost. . . .

I understand that you may want a LCD set but Panasonic sells plasma HDTVs that come already with a frame.

Ahh, looks like most of you have not seen B&O BeoVision 4 plasmas then... Your choice of frame color (black, metalic, red, among others...) Hands down the best looking flat screen, if not the best performing one as well... that is if you have $20K lying around for a 65" plasma :)

Tgenius, I own a picture frame shop in Miami Beach. If you are interested, I can go over all of your options to frame your TV and we have 100's of frames to choose from. Our gallery is called O.W. Art and Frame Gallery. 305-673-0002. Call or PM me if interested.

Sincerely,
-Jenk

Some things to consider
-Cover just front of bezel or both front and edge for looks?
-Will there be any heat build-up? May not be as much with the newest panels
-Access, current and future, to plug-ins on edges
-Easy to dust?
-Wall mount, or could this look good on a stand?
Yes, one thing leads to another..Many things have to come together to make a interesting viewing area. Have you viewed the many threads on this forum dealing with home theaters or home set-ups?

More than anything its to see if it makes sense to do it. It's not a guarantee by any means, but wanted to get some idea if anyone might know.

It's still a ways off, as my next set won't probably be bought until the Juneish time frame.
