I originally posted this question in the Official LG 60PG60 Owners thread but since I didn't get any response, I am reluctantly starting a new thread. I have read countless threads, visited BB 3 times and read every review I can find on my two finalists. I am trying to decide between the LG 60PG60 and the Panasonic 58PZ800U and then just lurk on the price compare sites waiting for a good deal. The new TV is replacing a 4 year old 50" RPTV and the TV is going in an 18X26 family room where seating is between 10 and 14 feet from the TV depending on where one is seated. I have 2 large windows on three different walls so a bright room during day viewing is a small concern but I have decided on plasma and LCD is not an option due to the price of comparable 58-60" LCDs.
Any general observations you may have if you compared the LG 60PG60 with the Panasonic 58PZ800U or its cousin the 850U are welcome.
My specific questions:
1) Does anyone use their LG during the day in a somewhat sunny room? How is the glare/dimming? I recall an AVS post stating that LG had glare/dimming issues when compared to Panasonic.
2) Are you satisfied with the Black levels? I ask since this is one of the deficiencies mentioned in the Home Theater review from January 2009 and LG's Blacks are suppossedley not a black as the Panasonic.
3) Most importantly, how does the TV handle standard definition programming. I primarily watch SD cable (15 or so HD channels are available with QAM) and I use OTA HD if I can't get the channel on unscrambled QAM. I do not have digital cable or satelite? I do not game.
Thanks
Sully
