I have a rather old, but nice Velodyne ULD-12. I can't find the manual, but I am not sure if that would help anyway. What I am trying to do is hook this older sub to a more modern receiver (well 10 years old, anyway). The ULD-12 has a controller between the receiver and the sub. The controller requires (4) RCA connections - (L/R) From Pre amp and (L/R) To Power amp. Problem is, the receiver (Pioneer VSX-D906S) only has one RCA output to the sub. My older Marantz Receiver had these (4) RCA connections but they were called Processor out (L/R) and Processor In (L/R). There are multiple Preouts on the newer Pioneer receiver, but I do not see anything resembling a Power amp IN. Can someone tell me if it is possible to connect this ULD-12 controller to the Pioneer?

Thanks so much. By the way, this is a temp set-up until the new Denon AVR's come out next year. My old Marantz almost made it but I just lost the left channel. Gotta have my sound in the meantime. :D

I have a ULD-12 that recently passed away - but it was great for 21+ years. If I understand the connections on your Pioneer, use a "y" splitter with 1 male and 2 female connections (check Audio Advisor or anywhere that sells cables). Put the male end in the RCA "subwoofer out" on the receiver then run two interconnects from the 2 female ends to the 2 "INs" ("From Preamp") on the ULD controller. Then run a single cable from the "To ULD" on the controller to the sub input on the bottom of the ULD-12. Good luck.

Thanks steven.
If I understand you correctly, as you saying to use the Y-splitter to take the single output on the Pioneer and allow you to plug into the "from pre amp" L and R jacks on the ULD-12 controller? Ok, sounds simple enough and make sense, but what about those other two RCA jacks on the ULD-12 controller that say "to power amp" L and R? Do I just not use those at all?

Thanks again. I will let you know if it works or makes something go *poof*
Hey, maybe I can take the parts from your ULD-12 and get mine working better. Velodyne says that my accelerometer is going.......

Yep - ignore the other two jacks on the ULD controller box. Also, when you turn everything on for the first time, make sure and have the gain control knob on the ULD controller box ALL the way to the left. Turn up the volume no farther than about 12:00 - you won't need any more than that. Remember, it does not have a "subsonic" filter (filters around 20Hz or below) so be careful if you use a turntable with a lot of rumble unless you can dial a subsonic filter in from your receiver. Also the ULD-12 was designed for music and not home theatre. A real strong low frequency effect from a movie can end its life very quickly. My accelerometer has already "gone!"

Thanks steven. I will give it a try with the y-splitter.

I know it is pretty darn old and only a 12 sub, but honestly, I have beaten the living tar out of this sub for almost 20 years, myself, and I have not blown this little jewel. :D I would replace it with another Velodyne when it poops out completely, but, these days, Velodyne is no longer on top. I am going for a Hsu ULS-15.

Thanks again, you rock.... no pun intended.
