I have a 1272 that I currently am building a WA screen 16x9 and I am currently looking at a 4x3 pulldown. I haven't set it up yet and I waiting for my DVD to get here, and my source is a HTPC. I haven't messed around with the memories or settings on the projector at all.

Most of my games are in 4x3 and run at a 1024x768 resolution, while my TV/movies are almost all 16x9. Some games can be run at a widescreen so I have thought of 1280x720.

What does that leave me with for my TV material. Most everyone I have talked to says run it at 1080i but is the 1272 smart enough to see a 4x3 signal and switch to that at a constant width(game playing) and then switch back to the 16x9 when I am done with it?

I am confused about raster settings and whether I need to squish the vertical height of the raster for my 16x9 screen.

The different resolutions will go into different "memories" on the CRT in you case. So it's just a matter of setting up each of these memories for the different aspect ratios. For your 1024 x 768 go 4:3, for your 720P and 1080i go 16:9. And yes your vertical height (RGB size) will control the height.
