So which one?
the 46" Plasma or the 40" LCD? the plasma is $200 cheaper ;)
uses: 80% Bluray, 10% cable %10 Gaming
Plasma is fine for this situation right, bigger is always better isnt it?

Blu-rays will look great on either, but I just prefer plasma. Not knowing your distance, generally, size matters and screens seem to shrink. I sit 8'+ from a 50", and I'm thinking about going 60. I'd vote for the larger Panny.

the viewing distance is small though! 3-5ft max so 46" might be too big right?
maybe the 42" Panny is better choice.

You'll save some coin on the 42, but if I'd already budgeted for it, I'd still want the 46, even at 3-5. YMMV.

Where are you going to buy this at?
I just got a 42" 85U and it is really bad for gaming so far, but I guess only a few of us have these issues. The phosphor lag creates severe ghosting and blur making some games unplayable (FPS in particular). I posted my issues is the owners thread yesterday.

No issues gaming with my panasonic c46fd18 (costco version of the 46pz80u). I'd avoid the 1080p 42 inchers- they seem to have more issues and often they're more expensive than the 46" counterparts.
Something about packing in that many plasma pixels in that small a space...
But yeah, go big with the panny.
