I know the Brick is re-mastered in 5.1 on dual disk, but not wanting to spend that kind of money, are there any alternatives. Thanks

You can get the ones you want separately instead of all together in the Brick which should make it more affordable. I purchased the euro versions which have separate CD/DVD-A discs instead of the US versions which are combined into 1 disc (dualdisc).

amazon UK looks like it has all the individual titles available for around $15 or less. Do a search there for "Talking Heads DVDA" and you'll see them all listed.

Fear of Music, Remain In Light, and Speaking In Tongues are must-haves, IMO.

Yes. Speaking In Tongues is killer. The alt version of "Burning Down The House" makes the cost worthwhile, in and of itself, IMO.

You can pick up the whole Talking Heads collection (Brick) at Deep Discount for under $100, free shipping although I prefer the Euro versions as well.....

Was wondering if all these UK DVDa are 5.1, some list it and some dont, and are these the same audio quality as the dualdisk versions here?

Stop Making Sense on DVD offers a 5.1 mix, although the sound from the surround speakers is pretty lame, mostly the crowd noise.

As far as I know, the audio mixes on dvda are the same as DualDisc. All the ones marked [CD + DVDA] are the ones you want for 5.1 dvd-audio
just search "talking heads [CD + DVDA]" on amazon.com/uk

FYI, a number of players (including the earlier Oppos) couldn't handle the DualDiscs... That said, this is a specatular set, and well worth picking up in its entirety, even with some discs that may not be your favourites...

Another thing worth picking up is THE DOORS/PERCEPTION BOX SET 6CD & 6DVD-A , of course you need to like the doors and realize the mixes are not as playful as the talking heads but this will go out of print soon and can be brought for under $80

I agree completely.

"Burning Down the House" is (expletive) awesome! :D

Curious...which Oppos? I have the 970HD and it plays duals just fine.
There was a firmware upgrade I installed early....dunno if that was part of a "fix".
The only gripe I have about the player is that it will not play true "gapless" DVDA where the tracks run together and only have a track point inserted.
....at least for the ones I make with Disc Welder.

I have 5 of the UK/European discs:

77
Remain in Light
Speaking in Tongues
Little Creatures
Naked

interestingly the last two are on EMI they all have pretty stunning surround mixes though.

The only difference between the separate CDs and the ones in the brick the latter has all the lyrics...
