I'm trying to decide on a sub and in the process I'm trying to find a place to put it. If I put it beside the TV I will need a VERY small footprint, and I really don't want one that small. So, I was wondering if it would have any negative affect on the sound if it's placed under an end table? I have a love seat and end table in the back of my seating area. And the end table has 4 legs with an open area underneath about the same size as some of the subs I'm considering (SVS,HSU), with a wall in the back and on one side, with the loveseat on the other side and open in the front. I would not think having a table over the top of the sub would matter, but I thought I would ask the experts.

Also, if I place the sub there, I will need to run a cable through the wall behind the TV, under the floor, and back through the wall where the sub will be. Do they make wall plates for that type of connection that I can put in the wall to make it look good without having a hole in the wall with a cable coming out? I have hardwood floors, and I have no way to run the wire around the room without seeing the wire.

Wall plates would be the best way to conceal wires.

Monoprice has a good selection of wall plates but the minimum RCA jacks would be 3.

So an RCA jack plate is what I would use? I wan't sure what connection you would call that.

Yes, most subwoofers use a single or two RCA connections.

So if the sub has 2 rca outputs and my receiver only has 1 input, do you use a splitter or what?

You got it the other way around.

The sub will take inputs from the output of the receiver.

Yes, a y-splitter is fine to use, there is no significant loss of signal whatsoever.

So is there a chance of quality loss with a 20'-25' cable run? And would running the cable under the floor in a cold crawl space require a special cable?

Nope, you can even use up to 50ft.

I personally prefer the CL2 rated ones, I find them aesthetically pleasing over the plain black ones. Plus I think the CL2 rating allows you to run it in-walls.

you can put the sub under a table.
