Hi, For the last few months I have been trying to decide between the Samsung 850 or Kuro 5020. The price between these two are very close. My main viewing will be movies and regular TV (SD/ HD) and Blu-ray. This TV will not be used for gaming.

Reading all the posts have me more confused. Some say that Plasma is better for movies and SD channels, where other posts say the LCD is better.

A few other notes: I just want a great tv to watch. I dont want to have to change settings everytime I choose a new video source. The room this will go in is the basement with low light conditions.

Any final thoughts before I make the purchase? I was leaning towards the 850 until recently I am leaning towards the Kuro.

Thanks
David

Quite frankly you will be thrilled with either set as long as you don't continue to debate the choice after purchase and you don't have a warranty issue as those tend to bitter anyone about most any purchase. Between the 2 main types of panels you get vastly different opinions but that is like most other things people recommend what they have (why would they have spent their cash unless they thought it was the "best" choice). For the people that say" I have both and hence I am unbiased" if you look closely the one they recommend is the newest, most expensive and or thier "main" display. In the end try your best to view each in a proper environment and choose what you like best, but don't look for the general PQ as this will vary widely based on settings but look for the things each technology is considered to be weak in to determine if it bothers you. Just an example look at the whites on the plasma and blacks on the LCD.

That all said I would get the Pioneer but with any significant savings I would be quite happy with the Sammy.
