Energy S8.3 (refurb) or ESW-8 (new)?

How do these subs compare to each other, if price was the same? Primarily for movies & tv in a 10x15 room. The sub will go with 5 small speakers.

Are there any significant differences between these two models?

get the newer ESW-8

Not sure what the condition of a refurb is, but I tend to stay away from those. The ESW8 has more power, but slightly less bass extension according to the specs. But I'd prefer new stock if the price is the same

The ESW-8 is 50 watts RMS, 200 peak. The S8.3 is 100 watts RMS, 400 peak.

Despite that small tidbit of misinformation, I concur that a used subwoofer is an extremely bad idea. The ESW-10 would be a good way to get new with the performance of old.
