Alright,

I am currently building a dedicated home theater. The progress thread can be found here: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1097777

A few weeks ago I went to the Best Buy Magnolia store to compare speakers. I listened to some Klipsch, Def Tech, Mirage, and others. I was really impressed by the Def Tech setup. They were the Def Tech Gems with the Supercube I.

I am trying to decide between:

Side/Rear Surrounds: the Mythos Gem, Mythos Gem XL, and the Mythos Six
Center: Mythos Seven and Three
Front: Mythos Six, Two, Eight, and Nine

I don't really know what the differences are, practically speaking. I also see that they have Bipolar speakers? Not sure why I would want a subwoofer in my speakers if I have a dedicated one.

I want to try and spend under $3k. The specs of my room are:

16' wide by 21' long x 9' high.

The side surround and rear surround speakers will be placed inside of a column, so they need to be less than 8" deep and 13" wide. These can be placed at any height within the column.

The main question I have, is if I do go Def Tech, should I get floorstanding speakers for the front L/R and center channels? Since they will be located on the stage to the side and below the screen, they can be anything I want.

As far as the subwoofer goes, do I need just one or is two required for the space? I was planning on putting them either under the screen or in the left corner of the stage.

Also, I am not particularly set on the Def Techs, but I liked what I heard so I know I wouldn't be disappointed.

Thanks so much for your help guys!
