We have a number of classrooms with projectors. We have others
we plan to convert from TV's to projectors this year.

The problem is we can't connect our satellite and cable signals directly to the composite input, we have to have a TV or VCR (old VCR!) in the loop. We don't want that. And with the conversion of everything to digital, you can't even buy a VCR that will do this anymore. What can we do to get our
cable/satellite to our projector?

If you are using Sat signals, you must use a Sat receiver most of them still have composite outputs.

If you are using cable for the digital signals you need a qam tuner, rent it from cable-co, purchase it or for limited channels (in the clear stations) you can use a DVD recorder or a combo dvd/vhs with a built in qam tuner.

You'll need something like this (HDD) (http://www.cencom94.com/gpage6.html) and an A/V switch. It does both ATSC (OTA) and QAM (Cable). The switch is to switch between satellite and cable/antenna.
