Is the cooling fan on these models supposed to run all the time, even when the unit is off and not doing anything? Mine does this and the air temp at the discharge of the fan is 86 degrees. Seems not right, at the very least a enrgy waste, but more concerned with fire hazard. Noisy fan too. Thanks for any help you can give with this.

Like my RCA and JVC machines, the fan runs until the internals are below a certain temp, regardless of whether the video signal or front display is outputting information.

It's not like the Toshiba machines, which did run 24/7/365 for no good reason. Or my LiteOn mod, where I installed a fan, plus a switch to cut the fan.

My 3575 shuts off after about 30 seconds when shut down. They do spin up for a minute or so at 12 noon and midnight to set the clock if you have that option enabled.

I was just going to post a similar question with my 3576. The 1st time I noticed the fan running with unit off, I powered the unit up &everything was locked up. The display said "load" but tray wouldn't open & remote functions wouldn't work also(this was after I changed connections on back to HDMI). I unplugged tht unit everything went back to normal, the fan shutdown seconds after power off. Now on occasion, the fan cycles on & off on it's own. There doesn't seem to be set times that I've noticed this.
My main concern is that this is a factory refurb unit & I'm concerned that this is a flaw. Am I understanding correctly that this is normal? Bob

I wouldn't be concerned cuz it sounds as if the unit was "spinning up" to check for a time signal, which has to "engage" the tuner for the search (unless you set a Manual channel). It has to be off to initiate the time search, so you turning it on during this process probably caused an "abynormal" situation... and I don't know of ANY electronically controlled machine that likes unexpected abynormal happenings! :D

A little info on "noisy fan" here. (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showpost.php?p=12309999#Op9)
