We moved into a new house that already has a theater room built. The screen is 96" and the previous owners projector was mounted at 15 1/2ft. My projector from my last house is an older Mitsu HC1000. It works great, but is not HDMI. The only wires they had run for the projector are one video wire and two cat 5.

I can't decide what to do. First I was thinking fish a couple HDMI, but I would have to hire a company to come out and do it. Second I was thinking a wireless projector. I haven't found much info on that when searching. I'm sure there are plenty of topics here I just didn't find them.

Today I read here that the Mitsubishi HC5500 is going for $1700 w/ $300 rebate + a free bulb. Sounds like a great deal. I would like to mount it in the same place as the previous projector, but I don't know if that will be the correct distance.

It will be used 90% for movies 10% for video games. There are no windows or any light issues.

Hoping to stay around the $2k price range or less if possible.

I hope I have given enough information. Thanks for any help and/or opinions.

Do you mean the Mits. HD1000? If so, it does have HDMI(I also own it). It would also work from that throw distance. If your projector would work, I would fish the HDMI cable. No matter what projector you use, you'll need to fish HDMI cable anyway. If you can't do it, it shouldn't be too hard to find an electrician to do it as a side job pretty cheaply.

all your answers on placement are there. Just plug in your model and they do the calculations for you.

Sorry HC3, not sure what I was thinking there.
