I recently tried hooking up component cables from my Directv DVR to my Phillips DVDR 615 and got no signal. Is there a problem hooking up the devices this way?

Is there a problem hooking up the devices this way? Not sure I can help you on this one, but what other cables do you have hooked up to the DirecTV DVR? Your component video output on the DirecTV DVR could be disabled if it has an HDMI output active (?). I saw this from CNet's review of the Philips DVDR 615: "The recorder's robust connectivity options include a component-video input--an unexpected bonus, even if the DVDR615 can't use it to record progressive-scan images." Cool that it has component in...not cool that it can't do progressive scan with it. I guess we can thank Hollywood for that, though. jjeff 01-25-09, 09:35 PM Also verify if your DVR is capable of outputting 480i over component, as steeltownguy said your DVDR requires 480i and not 480p not all devices output 480i over component. |
