Good report.
But you know what strangly missing from it, Pioneer. Why is Pioneer keeping its sales report a secret? They've been quiet of late. No news from the CES or nothing. What's up with them.

Well from what I understand D-Nice and Robert from Value are pretty optimistic that their market will not be effected. However, I am with them. Pioneer is the best PDP maker today. This will mean that the shoulders will squarely be on Panasonic to perform at a high level month to month to maintain the PDP technology. Samsung will not be effected as their focus has shifted towards LED LCDs.

Come on, you and I both know that outlook is myopic and not credible. Pioneer was struggling before the big down turn.

I have been reading this forim for a long time and the "doom and gloom" of flat panel manufacturers( i.e. Pioneer Hitachi etc.) has been a constant theme. I have different thought on this subject. With all due respectto Auditor's opinions, he may be onto something, but from the wrong perspective. Pioneer has always maintained their product to be the best and priced their products accordingly, but in my opinionthey have come to realize that it is not working in terms of sales and profits. With outsourcing the glass, the company may be trying to lower cost(obviously), and with the recent drop in price with the 50's trying to research a new price point v. profitability. The recent amount of posts in this forum on the 50's would indicate its working.
The auto analogies have been used often in discussing these issues. Lexus fist came out years ago with their LS line priced significantly below their competitors, i.e. Mercedes, BMW etc., and found thid practice to woek in gettting their product into the public. Slowly the price has went up, but still below that of their competitors. Pioneer went in with high prices and has stayed the course. Could this be a shift in their business model to stay competitive?
In interest of full disclosure I own an elite 810 monitor. Just my .02. Thanks for patience for the long post.

Consistently, Pioneer has enveloped flat panel technology year after year as well as their consumer product line. In order to maintain the high quality of product their production costs stayed high as well. Thus they needed to outsource cost and expenses on some of their parts, lay-off a majority of their workforce, as well as close a few plants. I will go back to a few of my threads and state that Pioneer is associated to the home theater buyer. You can still get great quality from other manufacturer's, but Pioneer has set the bar, in terms of overall performance. Maybe not value, but that is up to the individual to decide this.
