It has no problem with prerecorded media or previously recorded media, it just won't recognize the same dvd-r blank media I have been using. I have tried multiple disks of multiple manufacturers. I get a message after the disk loads saying that it is damaged or needs to be cleaned.

I tried resetting the unit and playing with clock, but neither of them helped. I will try a cleaner next. Any other ideas?
