get one of those digital converter box. you can pretty much get them for free after the government coupon... But you might want to go HD specially with a projector...

Those look like they just convert the digital signal to an analog signal. You would not get an over the air HD signal out of them.

I would suggest googling for a Digital Tuner that will take the OTA signal from your antenna and then connect to your projector.

1. Plug-in your address at checkhd.com and make sure you can get the HD over the air channel at your location
2. Buy the Coby DTV-140 hdtv set top box from BeachAudio.com
3. Get the U-75R UHF antenna from Radio Shack and enough wire to hook 2 and 3 together.
4. Run component (RGB) cables from the DTV-140 to your HD65.

That's about as cheap as it gets without finding used equipment laying around.

You didn't say HD, so if that's not too critical, you could use a VCR to tune the channel, and watch in SD.

SD on a HD65? I wouldn't.

If the OP has basic cable service, no box he can buy a QAM tuner and get several HD channels. That is what I do. I use this to get the clear QAM channels and several digital channels. www.epvision.com/

Good point - many cable companies run the local channels in HD unscrambled over their cable. You just need the QAM tuner.

There are several RCA DTC-210 ATSC tuners (component output) on eBay for $50 plus $20 shipping, and some additional ones you can bid on. I'll go along with the others regarding SD -- just say no! OTA HD will knock your socks off...

If they don't then they can get in a lot of trouble. The law states any channel the cable company receives unscrambled has to be passed on unscrambled. Thats what makes having a QAM tuner so great.

Here is a really cheap OTA HD box , has some issues but not much of an investment ( $32.50 +shipping ) if you are not satisfied ;) .

I guess the ZAT 502 is better if you can find one .

I would like to buy a OTA tuner box that would record in HD for later playback.

dtvpal.com - get the dvr

or

Tivo.com - get the HD dvr

In fact, Tivo.com has a factory renewed HD dvr for $100 off and free shipping.

I heard that the newer Tivo could not do anything with paying for either a monthly or lifetime subscription

That's probably true but your subscription is paying for an accurate guide and data as well as the named based recording and season pass features Tivo is known for.

The Echostar DTVPal DVR is a one time cost and then no fees but currently only uses timer based recording like the old vcrs and uses the data stream for the channel guide unless TVGuide info is broadcast in your area.

When I search the Samsung site for this unit I don't get any hits. Are they still making it? I've also heard that the Toshiba DR-560 DVD recorder is good alternative because it has a QAM tuner.
