All, first off, thanks for looking at my thread.

I have just bought a sharp 1080p lcd 46 inch and I hung it on the wall with a nice mount. Now comes the problem.

I have no idea where to get power from for this thing by hiding the wires in the wall. I can put a small access door in, or i can just put a strip behind the tv and screw it to the 2x4 stud. However, how do i get power to the strip?

I need some ideas, and I need them quickly. My wife is about to get pissed and make me take it off the wall and put it on a stand. Help!

Is there an outlet anywhere on the backsideof that wall that you could open the wall and tie another box too?

Google Powerbridge

Basically you want to use an old work electrical box to install an outlet hidden behind the display. Now getting power to that outlet is the challenge. You can run romex cable in the wall to another outlet or wall switch. Or the power bridge solution is to run a length of romex straight down inside the same wall stud cavity and installing a power INLET in an old work box. Then, run an extension cord to that inlet.

Now as far as the HDMI cable, you use bulk cable cover plates over some old work low voltage boxes or an old work box with a big enough hole drilled in the back to run the cable up inside the wall.

If you are not handy, call in an AV installer.

Im definitely handy. I didnt think I wanted to run an extension cord to it. I thought there might be some power loss on it, or the just the pure fact that the device may not be as protected. Can i pick this romex stuff up locally? Im in Richmond.

As for the plug on the backside, no there isnt. At least not one that people cant see.

Sorry, if you have to ask where to pick up romex it indicates a lack of experience with some basic electrical projects, this project may not be for you. Call in a pro.

If your handy the powerbrige is quite simple to install and looks clean. Any electrical or big box(Lowes or HD) will have romex.

Although like big said the fact that you don't know what romex is a bit of a concern. No time like the present to learn
