I went out today and HHgregg had the Epson Powerlite Home Cinema for 656.00 so I purchased it. I haven't messed with it much since I just moved and my walls are a light yellow. It does however throw a very bright and clear picture from my Ps3. So far Im very impressed with it. Let me know if any of you guys have any questions about it. With it being so bright should I use a grey screen for darker blacks? Let me know thanks for all of your help.

Can you post some screen shots? How do you have it mounted? Throw distance, screen size etc? Thanks.

A gray screen would help, but not so much because of the brightness...

The Home Cinema 700's contrast isn't one of its strengths (which are the lumens, warranty, and price), so having a high contrast screen would be a benefit.

All but the most expensive projectors struggle with black levels - it is simply a byproduct of using a lamp to make an image.

Be aware that having a gray screen can lead to "muddy" whites. You may want to contact Da-Lite, or any other screen mfr, and get some samples before buying. You may find that Da-Lite's High Contrast Matte White would be a benefit to you.

I just brought one home yesterday - not very impressed. I did a minor calibration with a THX DVD and it still looked very two dimensional, with heavy screen door on SD material. The Grey area around the picture is very light and distracting. In addition, the colors are not natural at all, and the menu is extremely basic. After owning an X1, 4805, and briefly playing with an H65, and a HC1600, this thing is going back.
