I have a question regarding HVAC. My HVAC is very close to the theater 5 feet from the back wall. The ducts run between ceiling joists. which option would likely be more quiet? I have long ducts about 16 feet with wo air vents per duct.

1. Normal metal ducts with silencers and insulation around them.

or

2. flexible ducts

The ducts are isolated from other ducts, and have three 90 degree bends. So, I think fan noise may be more of a concern than voice transmission.

Thanks,
hawk

3) true acoustical duct not the garden variety flex duct. The difference is the core material. Acoustical Duct has a fabric and allows the sound to be absorbed by the insulation, Regular flex duct has a harder plastic core and can propagate more sound down the length of the pipe. Fill any remaining space in the joist bay with loosely packed fiberglass insulation.
