so my launch 60 gig caught the blu flu - i sent it in and the exchange process was fine...
except since it is a different machine, i dont get the full restore...
is there anyway to sync my trophies to this machine, or am i just starting where i left off..? also, some of my game data is on the machine, some is not - am i sol with the games that are not showing data..?
thx, in advance, for any insight and information.
(fwiw - the exchange went smoothly, and 3 day select shipping arrived at my door 1 day early. kudos to sony for making that as painless as possible)

Game data gets installed when you boot up a game for the first time on the new console. Same with trophies, they appear when you start a game for the first time. They are still in your online record if you synced it, but they wont all appear locally (the icons come from the various games, on disc or PSN, so they cant appear until you boot the game).
As to save games, I think there are 2-3 games whose saves are not transferrable and you have to replay them. I forget which, but the devs said it was a problem with one of them and they were making a patch to fix that so you can actually move the saves.

Andy covered everything.
The games he's referring to are Rockband 2 and Motorstorm: Pacific Rift.
ok. thanks for the info. it seems my gh:wt data did not save, either...
now for another issue - how do i deactivate my old ps3 now that i do not have it? i am not allowed to download video content until i do so...

call them. they are supposed to o it automatically when it goes to the repair center.
well, it took a while of waiting on hold (i called that consumer services # that they have on their support site), but they deactivated my old ps3 (not before telling me that the instructions to do so are in the terms and conditions when you sign up for the psn - which i took to mean that they were saying this hassle was my fault; maybe those instructions are in the t+c now, but who knows if they were when i signed on for a psn account when i bought the launch model in the summer of '07 and apparently this activation stuff is new since 2.10 - i didnt even know there was such a thing). anyway, they told me to wait an hour before trying to download stuff from the store; hopefully all will be good then. i am surprised the psn lets me buy video that it "knows" i cant use - 'cos the very next screen says "no downloads for you."
still, the swap has been a fairly painless process - i just wish i knew about the deactivate thing, but i just didnt see any info about it when i was checking what to do before sending the blu flu ps3 in. maybe i didnt look hard enough...

Its been in the terms and conditions from day 1, not 2.10. Its just that no one ever reads the walls of text.
But you cant quite deactivate when a console dies. Either way, it can take up to 24 hours for it to go through.
Glad it worked out.
well activation went through - all is good.
thanks for all the help.
