I posted this in the Video Processor forum, but it doesnt seem to be of much interest to those guys.
Im looking for something cheap to line double and also to downscale from 720p and 1080p to 1080i and also 480p.
Any suggestions. Of course pre owned stuff is fine.
Thanks.

good luck, the Vision DVI was very expensive new over 1000 id get that if i were you and when you upgrade your CRT you'll have a great VP.

I think my sticking point is that classic line doublers dont do higher rez downscaling.

I think that unit is a great deal, if I had a second crt room set up id take it in a heart beat.
And yes the older units are hard to find that accept 1080p or can be fooled to accept it.

The Startech transcoder will do what you want. Component in up to 720p, RGBHV via an SVGA output starting at 480p. Works just fine. I've got them on my site in the f/s section. That Lumagen at $300 is a heck of a deal though, and would be a better option if you plan to upgrade CRTs down the road. Which of course, you should. :)

Yes, if you can find a Extron 304 (http://www.extron.com/product/product.aspx?id=dvs304) for under your budget of $50, grab it.

Im thinking more in the under $100 range. More like under $50. A friend of mine has a decent little scaler listed on Curt's for $150. OBO, make him an offer and it's likely yours. Not sure if it will input 1080P but you can set any BD player to send 1080i out direct as well.

Not sure if this would work- i have no need for it anymore. purchased from AVS.
Crystal Image VS 2.0 scaler does wonder for projectors with weak scaling engine, it will output various progressive modes and the image is very cinema like, smooth and deep.

Sync On Green (by default), this scaler has Sync on Blue to work with the Sony 400Q projector, but can be changed back quickly by cutting 1 wire inside the box. I had this done at the manufacturing, and they also updated it to the latest firmware.
