Hello and thank you to all who have silently provided alot of incite and ideas into my theater project. I have lurked for several weeks prior to starting the basement refinishing and now the theater is atleast operational for the Superbowl on Sunday.
Room measures 11'6" W X 20' L with an 8ft ceiling. A speaker platform lies directly behind the screen wall which has a 100" cutout for the AT screen. Drop ceiling utilizes black USG acoustic tile and a single soffit in the rear encases the projector. 8" stage lies in front of the screen wall. The faux archway in front of the screen wall houses a remote curtain opener.
Projector:
Epson 7100
AV built-in contains:
Pioneer Elite 92 TXH
Samsung 1500 Bluray
DirecTV HD-DVR
The pic was taken last night after I installed the sconces and chair rail. Installation of all the equiptment starts tonight.
So far so good. got more pics? Basement layout? Can't wait to see the finished product.

Hey, I like the recess for the sconces. Most I've seen are on columns. Good job.

Old and Ragged (that worked out well :) ):
Thanks. I have a layout I can post along with every nail/screw/drop of glue picture that I used when I get home.
I cant see a theater without sconces so when the room framed alittle narrower than I would like I had this idea. Electric & lighting should be done tomorrow. I did virtually all the theater construction but hired a local guy to take care of the rest, to my dismay. Wife would have killed me since it would have taken far longer by myself. My contractor now wants to build a theater in his basement!
The overall layout is wide open. Pool room will have a 9' table, exercise room, play room, bar & kitchenette along with the theater. What works and is the closest to completion is the theater and a built-in I made for my kegerator. Should be alittle over 1400 sq ft when done.
I attached another shot of the screen mounted just after I put it together on Tuesday. I wrapped it in plastic wrap since the theater was to be final sanded the next day. Funny thing, my 7100 looked great on it even with the plastic! I then packed it up in preparation for Saturday. Cant wait for tomorrow.

BTW, checked your thread and I did masonry for years and revived myself with several projects this past summer. Love the stone, especially the closets.

A mini-theater in my familyroom. Wife hated the Directors series Hitachi so I enclosed it with a mantle shortly after we moved in. 10" Yamaha ceiling 5.1. Sub in the armoir.

A few updates from last night. Ready for the game.
Creative soffit solution.
I like how it incorporates the projector and changes to black for the theater portion of the room.

Thanks. The beam wasn't so bad but all the bays were full and the right side had two large HVAC runs underneath. This was the easiest and cheapest and it didn't turn out too bad.
I had about a dozen people over to watch the game and I had to point out the fact it wasn't a TV. Bunch of light-weight non-AV nerds. I had help since most were standing just behind the soffit and never saw the hole for the projector.
The game looked great and I have little light influence. So far I am very happy with the 7100. Can't wait to paint and carpet.
