I currently have Time Warner Cable in NYC via the Scientific Atlanta 8300HD.
I was told about a year back to hold onto this box because it uses the old software.

However, I have recently found out that im not getting alot of HD channels (including HD On Demand) because im using an old box.

How is the new SA 8300HDC and is the new software bad to the point that I should hold onto this old box?

Any help/advice is appreciated.

I appreciate the response, but that wasnt my question/concern.
Was wondering if losing the old box and the old software is worth the upgrade in a couple of HD channels.

Ive heard so many bad things about the new software which is why I have held onto the old one for so long.

Have they fixed all the bugs?

Don't know of anyone in our area who would take a HDC over a HD. I had problems with my HDC always crashing or not recording properly, hanging for a couple of secs, etc. A lot of people keep checking for returns of the 8300HD to replace their troubled HDC.

1) Everything that a 8300HDC can get, a 8300HD can if properly provisioned. As noted above, call TWC and have them rehit your box.

2) The 8300HDC have real problems and as noted above, no one in their right mind would change a 8300HD for a 8300HDC.

I will be getting all these new channels on the 4th of February.

My only problem now is the lack of MOD-HD. Apparently I cant get this channel on the 8300HD?

From what I understand, those new channels are not available for lower Manhattan until the 4th of February.

If they are not available until 2/4 in lower Manhattan, it does not matter what STB you have....you will not get them until 2/4.

If above you mean VOD instead of MOD, yes the 8300HD works just as well with VOD as the 8300HDC.
