My boys and I love to watch the SciFi channel. Unfortunately the picture quality is terrible. Although this is an SD channel, the picture is fuzzy and murky/muddy. This is the only SD channel with this problem. A call to charter ackowlledged the problem but claimed this was a NetWork issue and not a result of any Charter did.

Perhaps that is the case but is there anything I can do to improve the picture quality.

The image looks very soft and when it the image is dark, there it looks as if there isn't enough color depth. to resolve the different colors.

Any thoughs appreciated.

I live in Central WI as well. I just looked at Sci Fi on my Panasonic 80U 46 inch and it did not look any worse than the other SD channels. Does your TV have NR? (Noise Reduction). If so turn that on. Also, try watching it at 4x3 and adjusting picture settings - If you list what TV Madel you have others with that might be able to help you better. Do you have a HD DVR or just a cable box?

Thanks for the comments. I am actually using a PC tuner to tune in the station using BeyondTV and outputting to Panasonic 42in Plasma (ED).

I though it might be my tuner card (PVR-500) so I installed a different card (adaptec 3620) but got the same performance. It is just that the image looks too soft and not enough color depth in StarGate or BSG. I will try and see if I can locate a noise reduction option in BTV or in the driver for the capture card.
