View Full Version : A Lumis in a CINERAMAX brochure !
CINERAMAX 01-31-09, 01:36 AM What things have come down to. ;)
Our producer/developer friend is turning over 150 brand new high end condos to their new owners in the next 60 days and he allowed us to include a brochure in the welcome packet.

coldmachine 01-31-09, 03:12 AM That Arcam AVR600 receiver is, by trusted opinion, set to blow all others away. I am due to have one by next weekend. I will report when I test it. Their new processor is due soon too.
Excellent choice.
CINERAMAX 01-31-09, 03:28 AM Is this a cessation of potty talks? Thanks:)
I actually heard it at the dolby booth, some serious number crunching going on, no mips left for eq. :D

The handbook was made available yesterday, if you want to check details, as some stuff has changed. There is a single position auto setup that now includes EQ. I believe its by Acoustic Arts. Its not a full-on correction suite.
Network card is now standard. It uses an iteration of vTuner for web radio, controlled and configured via a dedicated "Arcam radio service" website.

The processor spec is here

Im getting 2 600s, for an apartment and games room, but will also test it via its pre outs using some big actives. I'll post what I find.

Does the processor decode the latest codecs via bitstream? Got tired of waiting for this and just picked up the Classe SSP-800 which I'm very happy with (other than a FW fixable bass bug) but curious to know what you think once you get your hands on one.

Peter, It was remiss of me not to offer my congratulations...........Congratulations.
I hope you are able to maximize the opportunity.
Art Sonneborn 01-31-09, 10:50 AM I agree with CM this should be a nice addition to you offerings and ultimately be a big benefit to your business.

CINERAMAX 01-31-09, 10:57 AM There is no guarantee of anything. The builder is very careful to not give an endorsement, because an early purchase prior to closing conceivably may negatively affect the purchasers capacity to close, once the unit is closed it is a different matter. Then when the condo association is organized endorsements are not allowed, we are flying in under the radar in between those two points.
Maybe a few will pan out, cause Ugo is very well respected.
The Arcam should be a great piece, I was never a fan but their Dolby Volume implementation is exactly what every condo needs. We are trying to show some neighborly etiquette with this piece which is designed to sound great at low levels and to keep all sounds at a constant level. The Dolby wireless headphone continues the thoughtfulness trend. Although personally in this weather they become ear steam baths within the hour.:D

A LUMIS??? Care to come clean????
I really have never anything bad to say about the Italian built sim2's (AR knows that), the 3 chippers made by Delta for others I have had a beef with be it sim2 or Runco. I feel that the Titan Reference is a better machine in that range ( it even changes AR with remote and it is extra sharp) but facts are facts this seems the ideal projector for these media rooms.
Being a sharpness fanatic I would probably end up doing a native 2.0 screen without ISCO though, and either crop or letterbox to that. At this point the Titan Reference3D would be the intermediate step in between the uberkontrast;) and the superkontrast. And poor Christie (sorry Lon, Norman, Odyssey, Robena, Kei and others), but in the past I had characterized this company as the Hyundai of projector manufacturers, they seem to be living up to it at the moment.:D
Chris_006 02-01-09, 01:11 AM I've read through the Epic site and under technology they claim to have wire run to main locations for any sort of "smart" technology. Are you sure someone else doesn't already have an "in"?
CINERAMAX 02-01-09, 04:53 AM For the completion of the former bldg. the Grovernor House Ugo hired the former Lutron rep as his Technology VP, he coordinates all the common areas lighting control and automation technologies as well as , he was my day to day client Liaison in the Prometheus job. There are many provisions so that every apartment is wired for all sorts of future technology including Iptv, fios, etc. But the units themselves are a shell as the owners come in with their own designers and stuff.

Does the processor decode the latest codecs via bitstream?
It certainly does.
Sorry I missed this.

All rights reversed, Norman
Cool lineup in the brochure Peter - it's good to show flexibility.

Hola Fernando,
Panasonic built an Island in which two humongous factories will produce nearly all opf the plasma glass to be consumed in the world in the future, the project is massive. One of the buildings is coming online now, THAT will be the home of the upcoming 150" plasma, but production will not commence until xmas 2009 and delivery will be in 2010. The 103 remains the largest PRODUCTION plasma.

I'm really disappointed. Cineramax's photoshop skills are getting better :)
still beyond confusing, but I almost understand his marketing methods now.
Where is Dan Marino. not a single pic of Dan?
donaldk 02-04-09, 12:23 PM Now start proofreading this brochure.
Dizzman 02-04-09, 05:11 PM personally i love it. i thinksomebody needs to use it in an MBA class.
Hollywood__ 02-05-09, 05:49 PM I'm really liking that AMX MVP-8400i UI in System Helene, Peter. :)
All kidding aside, I've sat in the theater to the uppermost right of his post (Prometheus) and it was pretty incredible. I watched a demo of Death Race while sitting in the second row D-Box chairs. He was still doing some tweaking on the projector but I was very impressed.
The room and decor have a great feel to them. Excellent work.

LOL another member from Mr. Automation's posse, yes Mr. Automation's company is the premiere AMX programming and integration firm in the US.
What I have not clear is if you are Gabriel, Noel, or Didier? Which one are you Mr. Hollywood? All of you have sat there. :D
Hollywood__ 02-05-09, 10:03 PM Hi Peter,
I just sent you an email about the Prometheus touch panel so that should answer your question as to which one of us is Hollywood__. I also have a small update for Helene which I will upload when I'm sure the client is not using the theater.
Take care.
CINERAMAX 02-06-09, 03:13 AM A ha ha!!! You are the best, a touch screen Artiste! Thanks.

Peter,
This, at time of posting, is the only active production unit in N.America, and its rockin' my games room. Exceptional piece indeed.
I'm actually doing a total 180 on Dolby Volume after spending a while with it and adjusting the parameters to sensible settings.
It mostly does what it claims.
I will post on Dolby Volume soon

Yes, its tough being on the cutting edge,:D
Coldmachine
Is this a 350 with latest codecs or something more? I've owned several 350's and they were extremely competent little receivers to be sure.

I though very highly of the 350 in terms of SQ for a receiver, way ahead of the bunch.
This is a very different beast indeed. You wont use the word "little" either. It weighs in at nearly 70lb.
I did a head to head with the AV9 and the 600 is clearly the better machine. The only receiver that will compete with this is the Pioneer LX90. I will compare at the weekend.
Do you want me to forward a copy of my report?
Report? Sure, even though I just picked up the Classe SSP-800 I'm manufacturer agnostic on this stuff and will go with best in class should something prove it's mettle. You're using this as a processor only ?

Report, review,POS, call it what you want.:)
I'm using it as a receiver for my games room.
The AV9 replacement, which has bee announced, has no date yet.
