I've just wall mounted my LCD and its really opened up space and I can finally get rid of my clunky tv stand. As of right now I have the stuff on our dresser but my GF really disapproves and so am now forced to find a solution. I'd rather not spend upwards of 150 to buy a prebuilt component stand or something and would like to know some ideas about a DiY'er project at home.

I just need about 3 shelves to fit my blu-ray player, xbox 360 and out satellite DVR etc...

I'm wondering if those out there with some knowledge could give me some options. I was thinking about buying a premade component stand but those are costly and might take up space thereby defeating the purpose of the mount. Im wondering what you guys would think about getting some l-brackets, toggle bolts/anchors and making my own wall shelving unit. I mean I can just buy 3 shelves that are about 2x15 or so and hang them with brackets and anchors into the studs etc...

Anyone here do anything like that? All of my cables are in-wall rated as well and so I could put them through the wall and have them come out underneath near the components as well.

Any suggestions/thoughts? OR should I just buck up and pay for a pre-built stand/system?
