Yes, I did not make a typo on my thread - I do have a 4:3 screen and love it. When I was setting up my HT, I wanted the biggest image possible based on my wall and space limitations. In my setup, width was limited to something like 9', so I had a choice to either go 16:9 and have a smaller height - but since I still had more height available, a 4:3 image would give me the same width but more image since 4:3 is higher.
Anyway, I've got a XG75 feed via a HDFury connected to a Sony 5300es hdtv reciever via HDMI - the 5300es upscales all my inputs (xbox1,xbox360,wii,sat,dvd player, vcr (yes vcr) and cablevision and outputs to the XG75 at 1080i. All of the inputs are the full 4:3 size except when I watch 16:9 movies where then the top and bottom of my screen is black.
Being that the 5300es has limited resolutions (480p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p@24 which is not usable with crt), I got a Centerstage cs2 which can create custom timings - this unit also has dvi input and can output via hd15 or dvi.
So, what custom timing would you suggest for a 4:3 setup. I've rewad that 1920x800 is nice, but isn't that more for a 16:9 setup? Even when I output 1080i via the 5300es, I'm confused why most of my feeds still display my full screen at 4:3? If I am feeding 1080i, shouldn't all my images have a top and bottom black bar? Perhaps it is the way I setup the prj - I think I may have messed a little with the cropping and geometry - but people and images do not look distorted?
So, what custom res would you suggest for my setup? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
