Sorry for not posting this in my build thread, where it probably belongs, but I'm not at the point where I can get any love there and I don't know the forum equivalent of jumping up and down, waving my arms in the air.
Here is where I’m currently at…

…and here is where I’d like to be

Well, kind of ; not the stage or ceiling or anything, because obviously my room is different. The thing I’m really shooting for is the shadowboxing and “columns" on the sides of the screen-wall. My idea is you see how I have the build-outs on the sides of my screen-wall; I want to do a “cabinet” column like the finished room, where the one on the right is “fixed”, but the one on the left will be like a door, with speaker cloth, so it can be opened for access behind the screen on that left side.
I’d like to do it just like the finished picture here, except reverse the “section” sizes; I need the tall section from the floor up, for the floorstanders behind them, and I’d like the small sections up top, because I want to put sconces there.
I just have no idea how to get there. I guess the “front” of that column is just plywood (or better grade) painted black…then crown inlays?? For the one I want to swing open, like a cabinet door, just build it with a hinge?? What about the sides of the shadowboxing; is that another piece of sheetrock on the sides, just also painted black, or is it wood, like what is used for the front??
And while I’m at it, I might as well ask this again: I’m divided on whether or not to put Linacoustic on my screen wall. I’ve decided that for the side (knee) walls, I’m not going to go with any acoustic panels or treatments to start…because if I paint, and set-up, and the place sounds like a tin box, then no harm, no foul…I can always just do treatments or panels as “phase II”, over the painted rock. But if the screen-wall turns out to be a problem, then that's not such an easy fix…because I plan on doing a built-in under the screen, and the screen will already be in place.
If my Fronts are going to be to the "empty" sides of the screen-wall like that, and only the Center will have its back to it, should I still look to do some Lin on the screen-wall or not worry about it? (I guess bolding could be the forum equivalent of jumping up and down, and waving my arms...lol).
Seriously guys, I know this is a pretty broad question. If you need me to elaborate, or use not quite so many "likes"...lol...feel free to elicit more feedback...and thanks for any help.
CD
