Hey all, new member, been on information overload since I found this site and started reading on speakers and AVRs:D! Here is my current set up:
Right now I have a 3 year old Panny HTIB that is rated at 1200W (I know that each company rates their power differently). I want to upgrade my home theater and wanted to buy speakers first and then a new AVR. I was actually looking at TSC (the TSB/TC2 (LCR), and TSAT1000 (surround), and the ASW10 for a sub).
I am not an audiophile by any means, the system is primarily for HT use (movies/tv/video games), but I do enjoy jacking in my IPOD on the weekends and listening to it.
Reading through the HTIBs manual, on the specifications on the speakers and the power output of each channel it says that the L/R/Surrounds are all rated at 8ohm but the center is rated at 4ohm. It also says not to hook up any other speakers but the low-quality Panny's that came with it.
My question is this: If I upgraded my speakers (all 8ohm) and used the HTIB receiver until I could afford to upgrade to a dedicated AVR, would I be running the risk of permanent damage to the speakers or frying my HTIB receiver? Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
