FC2 sounds promising and similar to Crysis in some respects. I have played Crysis and really enjoyed it, so my question is this: if I liked Crysis will I also like the PS3 version of FC2? If someone has any comments about FC2 gameplay variety, I'd appreciate it as well.

I would skip FC2...i have played both Crysis and some of FC2. Cant compare them.. Crysis is in a league of its own. Wait till the end of this month and pickup Killzone 2..as from reviews so far lookin to be one the best FPS this generation on consoles. Unless you like driving miles and miles...getting attacked constantly for no reason by local miltia..steer clear of FC2.

I've enjoyed both myself.

They are different types of games, but fun in their own respect. FC2 is more like Grand Theft Auto in Africa.

Note that the PS3 verion of FC2 and the PC version of FC2 (or Crysis) are in totally different leagues.

And that is a bad thing?! lol I enjoyed FC2 as well...the game might seem repetitive but it still is solid the Sandbox is HUGE....like almost too big at times....

just wish you can hunt/fish and do other things like survivorman!!

Now that would be a sick game....Les Stroud's Surviviorman!!!!

The games are about as different as can be while still being shooters. Crysis is a more or less standard linear shooter, but it mixes things up by giving you the suit and the ability to take on challenges on your own terms. However you are still going point A to point B to advance the story. Far Cry 2 is a completely open world game, where you not just take on the challenges on your own term, but do subquests, collect macguffins, and can ignore the main missions if you want. Both games are awesome, but they are very different.

They're both FPS's. Other than that, they're totally different games that share nothing in common.

I'm guessing that the reason you're even asking is because the first Far Cry was developed by the makers of Crysis. But Ubi Montreal took over the Far Cry IP, so Crytek has nothing to do with the sequel.

Far Drive 2 is one of those rent it before you buy it games. I don't recall too many people having an opinion somewhere in the middle, seems you either like it or hate it. I fall into the latter, and feel I dodged a bullet since I almost bought it. What could have been an awesome game was ruined with some questionable design decisions and lack of polish. Definitely try before you buy.

Like everyone said, they are very, very different games. Both are very fun to play for sure and bring their own strengths to the table. FC2 is one of the most open world shooters you can get, and of course Crysis trumps all in the GFX department. I've played both extensively and like them both, but overall I guess I preferred Crysis.
