OK, I have Dish now and got a promo from them to go TurboHD. I like the VOD in 1080p since I have a 1080p HDTV. I will use an antenna for OTA.
I can't find anything on UVerse to see what they transmit in. I can now get UVerse and it has me curious. I just want to see if it is the "greatest thing since sliced bread".

U-Verse transmits in 1080i or 720p depending on what you set the box up to send to your TV. The picture quality on broadcast channels is not as good as Dish or Comcast. That being said not dealing with Comcast in general, getting more HD channels, 4 tuners, and whole home DVR is worth the sacrifice in picture quality.

I just ordered U-Verse when I found out I couldn't get DirecTV at my new house, I decided on that over Comcast because even though the HD quality supposedly isn't the best, Comcast in Atlanta is pretty gross as it is for HD, and of course the hardware is abysmal. Besides, at least with U-Verse if you don't like it, there's no commitment!
