Hi all:

I've had this TV for exactly a year and in the past month or so I've noticed the sound cutting out. As I remember, the first instance occured when switching from a HD channel to a standard channel and heard a 'pop' come through the speakers that came with the TV. After the pop sound, while watching the broadcast, the sound cuts out intermittently.

I swapped out the HD cable box for a new and am still experiencing the same issue.

Questions:
(1) Any ideas on troubleshooting?
(2) What to expect when dealing with Pioneer on repairs (should it come to that)?

Thanks in advance!
Heather

I assume that you are feeding the cable box to the Antenna A input and using the built-in tuner. Since you are using the attached speakers, you might first check to see if any of the attached speaker wires on the back have come loose. These were attached when your set was set up. Loose wires seem unlikely, however, since you would most likely lose sound in only one speaker, and also that would not explain the "pop" that you heard. You can also get sound from the set another way; I use the optical (Toslink) output and feed it to an external receiver and speakers for much better sound. But in any case, you would want to get any malfunction fixed, even if you are not using that function. If service is necessary, your set is still within warranty, and Pioneer seems to have excellent customer service. Also, prior to any service, you can always call Pioneer on their 800 number, and they can give you expert advice over the phone, as to what you can try next, etc.

Thanks for the advice, Harrison. Turns out, it's a cable TV issue. I'm not a techie and my limited understanding as of right now is that there's too strong a signal coming to the house -- causing a loss of sound at random intervals. Doesn't quite make sense to me...but we'll see what happens. I'll keep you posted if you're interested.

Thanks again.
