I'll be getting a new Dish Network HDDVR and was wondering what audio formats get passed via HDMI. Is it DD5.1 or do they transmit TrueHD or any other advanced audio formats?

My 722 does either Dolby Digital or PCM depending on the signal. gatorman 02-03-09, 10:09 AM DD5.1 or less depending on the particular channel/show, although I believe I read a post somewhere that someone reported getting a 7 channel signal. I have my doubts unless it was on one of the VOD 1080p pay broadcasts. I've also noticed that on some programs that display on my AVR as 5.1, I sometimes don't get all six channels. Again, depends on the particular satellite channel. John Moschella 02-03-09, 03:40 PM Thanks for the help. kosmo132 02-05-09, 04:16 PM My 722 does either Dolby Digital or PCM depending on the signal. Hello - what is the difference on the PCM/RF settings - is a certain one better, or is one designed for a certain feed? Trying to optimize the audio (via optical) to my Panasonic Home Theater system. Thanks! Straybeat 02-05-09, 04:39 PM Hello - what is the difference on the PCM/RF settings - is a certain one better, or is one designed for a certain feed? Trying to optimize the audio (via optical) to my Panasonic Home Theater system. Thanks! I don't know really? I've switched them back and forth to see if there's a difference and I can't notice any? I googled around a long time ago and couldn't find any info on it either. Though there may be some now? I haven't looked since then. |
