I have my DVR HR22(Direct TV) and my Panasonic DVR/VHS Player EH75connected to the TV via A/B switch; I notice a significant reduction in sound when I watch the DVR or DVD. My Tv is an older model and only has the 3 plug input (1 video + 2 audio) to connect to the A/B switch; is there a way to minimize the sound reduction? Note: Video is excellent.

As a general rule, the sound output drops noticeably when you switch from a direct (antenna/satellite/cable) TV signal to a DVD recorder or player. I've found over the years that nearly every recorder cuts sound volume dramatically in passthrough or on recorded DVDs, which can be a problem with some televisions that can't be jacked up to play louder. In most cases there is nothing you can do about it. Its possible you have a crummy A/B switch and might get improvement by using another, but doubtful. If the sound difference bothers you extremely, you could buy an inexpensive small "DJ mixer" and connect the audio outputs of the recorder to the mixer and then the mixer outputs to the A/B switch. A mixer would allow you to boost the sound floor of the recorder enough to match the DirecTV. Alternatively, you would connect the DirecTV to the mixer instead of the recorder, and use the mixer to lower the sound floor of DirecTV to match your recorder output.

Something as simple as this (http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/Behringer-Xenyx-502-Mixer?sku=631262) would allow you to control the sound easily. Sound levels have been an issue with me too. I haven't reached the point of getting one of these yet, but I have considered it at times.
