I have an 'elderly' Onkyo TX-SV525 with 5 speakers (no Subwoofer) that supports surround using 'Digital Dolby Pro Logic Surround Circuit'. Audio input is through 2 channel RCA jacks with a 3rd for Video in. Not sure why Video comes to the receiver...may for automatic power on?

Anyway, I'm starting to upgrade my system with a Panasonic TH-58PZ800U TV with either the BD35 or BD55 BD player. My question: Will the BD55 analog support give me true surround sound with my current receiver or should I get the cheaper BD35 and put the difference towards a receiver upgrade? If I should upgrade now, any suggestions on a reasonably priced receiver/amp?

Thanks for any feedback,

The BD55 can decode Bluray audio formats and output the audio via HDMI or even analog. However if using analog your receiver will need multichannel analog inputs... If your receiver does not have multichannel analog inputs then IMO it would be best to get the BD35 and upgrade the receiver (if you do this make sure you get a receiver that can handle HDMI).

EDIT - BTW, welcome to AVS!
