OK,
so I have switched from tversity to PS3 media server which has been awesome. so far it seems to play anything I throw at it. My question is does anyone know of a companion media library / cataloging app that I can use to better organize my files that can be viewed / used via ps3 ??

I have a lot of live music in .flac format , so there are no mp3 info tags, and often the files are in numerical formats that are not easily deciphered , on my pc I can view the .txt file which will list all the tracks and show info, but I cant view these on the ps3.

Am I missing something, or does anyone have any ideas ?

also, any ideas for streaming 1080p xvid? I only have a p4, and it seems unable to handle the streaming transcoding via ps3 mediaserver, but most 720 is ok.

thanx in advance for any suggestions, Jeff

Did you try enabling the media library? I never tried it myself but it does have one built in.

P4 cannot handle 1080p. I would be surprised if you can play it locally.

Is it possible to download a different web browser so when trying to use the PS3 for the internet you can get a more legit browsing experience? I haven't messed with the PS3 as a media server at all thus far, just games and blu-ray.

Check the SCEA forums for the answer to your question though, I'm pretty sure they have a search feature and I'm almost certain this has been discussed.

flac does support tagging. If you use the foobar2000 player on your PC, you can download the live show tagger plugin. It will read the .txt file and properly name and tag your files. It's real slick.

What are you using for your internal network? I haven't personally tried streaming 1080 content across the network yet. If you are running wireless on the PS3, you probably are not getting enough data flow across the network. I upgraded my router to a gigabit router and hardwired it to my PS3. So now my whole internal network of PCs and PS3 are running gigabit ethernet, so when I do run 1080P I shouldn't have any problems.

Hope this helps,
JJ
