Does anyone know if it is possible to insert breaks between shows on a DVD that has been recorded say from 9pm - 12pm? When I play the DVD I get one entry point and have to fast forward.

Perhaps what I'm looking for is a way to insert chapters on the 1 hour marks.

Only if you use RAM discs. You cannot set chapters on any other disc type on the EZ-27 or any Panny w/o a hard drive.

If the disc has been finalized there will be chapter marks at intervals about every five minutes. Use the SKIP buttons to move forward or back by these chapter marks.

Actually if the disc aren't finalized he could just use the TimeSlip button too. It would advance the time by any amount the OP wanted.

I had not considered buying RAM-DVD. They seem much more expensive than the DVD+-R media that is sold by the pound these days.

Do you know if the RAM-DVD would play in another DVD player? I record on the Pana in the home theater room, but generally watch the recordings on a Toshiba DVD player -- not the same room.

Some players and most computers can play RAM discs. Not sure about your Toshiba. I never really use RAM discs that much because my Sony players won't play RAMs. You might look in the manual for what discs it plays or try looking online. I'm pretty sure the recent Toshiba DVDRs don't record to RAM so I'd guess the recent Toshiba players might not either. Not sure about the classic XS Toshiba recorders though.
Panasonic and Pioneer were big into RAM discs and I think basically all of those players will play them.
RAMs are great for time shifting but rather spendy for archiving.
