I have a 4 year old Sony XBR1 and it had been working with my Sony upconverting dvd player and PS3 through the HDMI imputs just fine up until a week ago. I used the PS3 with the AV cables on another tv and when I hooked it up to the Sony nothing. I tried hooking up the dvd player and it keeps flashing green every 5 seconds. My DirectTV is working fine over the same HDMI cables into the same port. Also the DVD player and PS3 work fine on my phillips HDTV. Can the HDMI ports on the Sony be reset? Can they be set in the first place to only except one type of HDMI signal? Is there more than one type of HDMI signal?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks much, Gil.

As you can tell I'm new to all of this.

hi guebert, HDMI inputs always have problems with time, in most cases because of the usage.

My bad. I thought you were talking about the V40XBR1 which is lcd. There is another forum for rear projection crt's which probably will offer more help with your very frustrating dilema than in this forum.
