So is it safe to install a flat screen mount to the very edge of a half wall right up against stairs (going up)? I am not sure how sturdy the wall near the edge of the stairs would be. I assume it would be very sturdy as it is probably structural to hold the stairs in place? Is that correct?

Here is a quick diagram of a side view to the stairs / front view (if you are watching the flat screen):

As long as the TV mount is attached to studs I can't see it being a problem. You just want to make sure that if someone falls and grabs a railing they don't grab the TV by accident.

No problem. I have one of my TV's mounted on a "stairwell" wall. My wall for some reason has 24" OC stud spacing not the standard 16"OC. Not sure why, just check yours first depending on your mount. I had to use Snap-Togglers on both ends of the mount and centered the mount over a stud, worked out ok for me.

Good luck

Thanks, then it's time to use that stud finder that has been buried at the bottom of the tool box.

Now, how high should a 50-52 inch screen be mounted? It's going to be tight as the center area where I would want the screen is half way up the stairs so it's going to be tight. For a rough estimate, how far should the top/middle/bottom of this mount be installed?

I think I may need to cut out a cardboard size of the screen before any purchases and install is done. Damn half wall!
