Anybody listening to the 70's channel, have you noticed that it sounds like the songs are being played faster then they were recorded, or is it just me?

What I have noticed is when they have DJ's on the 70's now they talk about nonsense and tell the most immature, juvenile, asinine jokes I ever heard. It's like they think their listeners are Junior High age.

As far as the speed, no I haven't noticed that.

I'd always heard that DJs used to do that to get mroe commercials in and that's why you couldn't understand so many lyrics (kiss this guy instead of touch the sky, etc).

I've noticed it's sounds more compressed than it used to. And I'm not a big fan of the new "personalities" either. If I wanted talk, I tune in a talk station. Maybe it's cheaper to pay people than royalties. And who's bright idea was it to replay old Kasey Kassem countdowns? I hated that IN the 70's and it's worse now.

Casey Kasem's Top 40 rocks. It can't be that bad if you listen to it. Love it or tune to the 80's. :)

..and he writes....

As soon as I heard that and figured out what they were doing, I switched channels.

I didn't realize they had hired Conan O'Brien to DJ there. :)

The 80's aren't so bad, but the 70's rock. Hope you enjoy the move.

I'm noticing it also - it sounds like the drummer is about 1/8 beat too fast and the rest of the band is trying to keep up on some songs. I can't imagine why they would do that to the material in the first place though, so maybe it is my ears as well. It doesn't seem to happen outside of the decades channels... hmmm.

This morning I heard two songs that sounded too fast (not sure if it was on 70's or one of the other decade channels). At the time, I thought they were playing an alternate version of the song than the normal release.

Maybe the programmer is Harvey K-tel.

That is the dj's on most rock channels, hair nation anyone? If the dj says one more time, "Do you smell what I be stepping in." I am jumping out of the car head first.
