Let me preface this by saying that my music is tagged correctly, so that's not the problem. Here's what happened.

Last night, off an external HDD, i imported 3 CDs worth of music to my PS3. Not that it's relevant, but A Steve Miller album, Queen's Greatest Hits, and an 80's Greatest Hits CD. What i've since found is that the newly imported music has done some whacky things. To wit, when i sort by artist, when i go into my Pointer Sisters folder, instead of my Pointer Sisters music, i now have 2 Steve Miller songs, 2 Queen songs and 3 songs from the 80's greatest hits CD. Like i said, everything is tagged correctly as evidenced by the fact that all 7 of these songs are also in their proper folders, Steve Miller, Queen and each 80's artist respectively.

The most troubling aspect is that my Pointers Sisters music is now gone. Poof. Vanished. I've searched by track titles and by albums and they are nowhere to be found. I've done some checking and this appears to have occurred in about 4 or 5 different artists folders with the same results in each.

With all the music i've imported, and this being the first time i've imported anything since going to 2.60, i can only assume this is a 2.60 glitch. Anyone else ever have this happen, either before or since 2.60?

It's not a 2.60 glitch. It happens sometimes when you import too many songs at once.

I have some messed up albums because I imported too many at one go.

I think it's because you imported a Pointer Sisters album. :-)

Just kidding.

I've had it happen too when I imported the 4-cd Doors box set -they all ended up in the "Unknown" folder

the fact the this sentence was actually transcribed in the year 2009 blows my freaking mind! :D:D:D

but alas, shorty is right... don't rip too many songs to your ps3 at once.

Ok, all fair points about the Pointer Sisters. I thought about lying and saying the imported songs ended up in my Van Halen folder or something, but, well.....;)

Anyways, i'll chalk it up to a (hopefully) one time screw up and cross my fingers that it doesn't happen again to where i have my WHAM compilation ruined. :D

Thanks for the feedback.

I think Menudo was better than WHAM.

What does importing too many at a time entail? Too many songs on CD or too many Cd's in a row? Is there an acceptable waiting period? Not that I plan on importing much of anything ... just curious really.

Will it take a 'New Kids On The Block' Cd?

Reefbone, i'm not sure it was caused by having "imported too many songs at one time" per se. At least not to where there is a set number that you can import without a problem - and anything over that is going to be problematic. I've oftentimes imported more songs than i did the other night without any problems. I think it's something that just happens on very rare occasions.

Now excuse me while i get back to importing my Difranco Family Collection.
