I can't put my speakers behind the screen so I would just be some oc703 to kill the reflections. I can't decide if its worth it and thought some the acoustic pros here could chime in on this option.

Thanks

I don't understand your first sentence. Are you saying that if you installed an AT screen you would install sound treatments behind the screen, but not the front speakers.

Assuming that is what you are asking I would imagine the answer would be "it depends on what you are doing with the rest of the space". Are you treating other reflection point? Rear wall? First reflections? What floor treatments are you using? Bass traps?

There is a school of thought that says an AT screen w/o placing the speakers behind is worth the light loss from not using a solid screen since it opens up the opportunity to put accoustic treatments behind the screen, rather than having a large reflective surface.

But I agree, the context counts. A solid screen is certainly a better video performer, and cheaper.

Sorry for the confusion. I do plan on treating the rest of the room also. But I want to get the screen going now. It would be strickly to kill reflections off the screen. Is the extra expense and picture quality loss worth the acoustic gain in that area?

Thanks
Lance

I wouldn't do an AT screen unless I was planning on putting speakers behind it.

This thread started as something else but Dennis partly discussed having an AT screen vs a solid surface for this curved screen. I am not sure if the same applies for a flat screen or not.

Thats the post that got me thinking about an AT screen just to kill the reflections. He may have been just referring to curved screens like you say. This is what I want the answer to.

Thanks

Any one have any input on this? I'm about to just order a standard screen I guess.
