Hi:
At present , with source of BP55, blueray and HDtuner from Samsung, I am using Moome EXT-HD ( non-1.3) box to hook up to Marquee 8500. If adding DVDO VP-50, what will be the best chain of video connections and at what setting for VP-50? Thanks in advance for any inputs!

If that version of the Box strips the HDCP id put it after the VP-50 . For scope movies you should use Active Area Scanning principles , this is using the VP to only scan the active area of the Blu ray movie which is 800p. This way the black bars above and below the image wont be scaned by the PJ thus freeing up bandwidth. But on the Marquee you may need to change the three resistors that were changed to allow 16x9 image. On the VND r704,804,and 904 need to go from 56k to 68kohm value. this will allow the image to be squeezed down and you can then use 800p@72 Hz.

Thanks! That's why all the mention of 1920x800 at 72 Hz. came from , very interesting. With VP50 which has BNC output , can I remove Moome EXT-HD box from the chain?
By the way, what do you mean by " If that version of the Box strips the HDCP id put it after the VP-50"?

The thing is if you want to get the native 1080p@24 from the Disc. The Player needs to know what the display is so it can give the OK to allow 1080p to be read from the player. Other wise it will output 1080i or nothing at all over HDMI. The Ext-HD you have might be the older version that does strip HDCP signal. if it does then you want it in the chain somewhere, i have the Moome MUX-HD which is a specific HDCP solution. I know one version of the EXT HD was also this way. does your also have the HDMI/DVI out plus the RGBHV also? Id go player to VP50 then to the EXT HD to see if you can have the player output 1080p, then try it in front of the VP50 if it dosen't.
But if you want 1080p native straight form the disc you need to some how take care of the HDCP issue. Or you can Order the Moome VIM-HD internal card.
But 800p@72 on my 8500 looks sweet, nice and smooth. But you will need to do the resistor mod on the VDM. I can do it for you if you want as I have the resistors here for a small fee.

Can I just output from VP50 to Marquee directly using VP50's BNC output? My EXT-HD box id the 1st gen with HDMI (non 1.3). Is it strip of HDCP signal?

I think that one is the one that can remove any HDCP problems. So now you can go BP55(HDMI)>(in HDMI)EXT-HD(out HDMI)>(in HDMI)VP-50(out RGBHV)>(in RGBHV)Marquee's VIM.
