I am looking at purchasing a subwoofer for a large L-shaped room with a cathedral ceiling. I know I should be looking a something bigger but don't have a place to put a bigger sub. I also want to keep the price below $350 shipped. Which one of these two would work the best for me?

Thanks,
jmak

don't know the other but I had the original LFM-1 and it was sweet (lil bro has it now) and I am thinking about buying the Compact myself...the Outlaws have it on sale through Sunday for $319 shipped...best deal they have ever had for this...the others are on sale too but are showing out of stock and of course are above your price limit...

Hmm, well, I have an Outlaw LFM-1 EX and also have the PA-120. I would say it comes down to several factors which you're probably already aware of:

The Outlaw may be the way to go if you need:
-more input options since it has speaker level inputs but the PA has only line level. Now, most people are probably going to use the line level input anyway, but options are often good things
-you want a downfiring sub for more flexibility on placement/have placement issues. Or maybe you have cats you fear might use the front grill of a sub for a scratching post or pets or children that might "hide" things in an exposed port. Or maybe you just like the plexiglass top.
Since it's also on sale right now, you'd have a better probability of getting your money
back out of it if you sold it, and would have higher resale than the PA since it's a more expensive sub and Outlaw's have a decent rep I think.

OTOH, you can save yourself a cool $100 or so on the PA, even on sale, and I suspect it will sound/perform as good as the compact, maybe even better, depending on your circumstances as far as placement, room characteristics, front vs downfiring preferences, etc. Build and sound quality are very good on the PA, and it goes just as low or maybe a bit lower than the compact model Outlaw. The Outlaw's are good looking subs, IMO, with a nice finish, but the PA's are decent too, plus you have the option of black or cherry, whereas you don't have an option with the outlaw, or it's a Henry Ford sort of option, maybe, where you can have any color you want, as long as it's black ;)

Thanks for the replies. Does anyone else have any opinions?

I am leaning towards the Compact but would like other opinions before the Outlaw sale ends on Monday.
